Regular and not Regular Polygons

The Regular Polygons sides are all the same length and they are equal.

All the sides of the regular polygons angles have equal measures.

The not regular polygons sides are not the same length and the sides are

not equal.

The Movement of Water on Earth

Water moves on Earth from Waves Currents and Tides. Tides cause the water on earth to move. Tides are caused by the pull of the Moon's gravity on earth. Currents flowing streams of water that move continually through the ocean in a specific direction are called currents. Surface Currents are caused by the movement of Earth and by the force and direction of the wind. Waves are the repeated movement of water known as a wave. Most ocean waves are caused by winds that are blown across the surface of the water.

The Movement of Water on Earth

Hannah’s Notes

Three ways that water can be moved

      Waves

      Currents

      Tides

Waves

The repeated movement of water known as a wave

All waves have the same parts

  - The highest part is known as the crest

  - The lowest part is known as the trough

Most ocean waves are caused by winds that are blown across the surface of the water

A wave changes shape when it reaches the shore

Sometimes giant sea waves, called tsunamis, are caused by underwater earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or landslides.

Notes

Currents

Flowing streams of water that move continually through the ocean in a specific direction are called currents

Some currents flow at the ocean’s and some are found deeper in the ocean.

   - Surface currents are caused by the movement of Earth and by the force and direction of the wind.

  - The movement of Earth and winds causes these currents to flow along curved paths.

Currents Continued

Surface currents are caused by the movement of Earth and by the force and direction of wind.

Warm water and cold water are moved to different regions on Earth as a result of currents.

  - Warm surface currents are driven by Earth’s rotation from the tropics to higher latitudes.

  - Cold surface currents are driven by Earth’s rotation from the popular latitudes toward the equator.

Tides

Several times during the day, the level of water at the ocean shore changes.

The regular rise and fall of waters in oceans and seas is called a tide.

Tides are caused by the pull of the Moon’s gravity on Earth.

As the moon moves into rotation to Earth, the water on Earth moves too.

As Earth moves on it’s axis, the part of the ocean facing the moon will budge.

Tides Continued

High tide occurs when the water level is at it’s highest points.

Low tide occurs when the water level is at it’s lowest point.

Tides rise and fall about twice every day.

Book Review

My favorite chapter in this book was chapter 18. This was my favorite chapter because it was more exciting than all the other chapters. This chapter was about how Allie, L.J, and Dub rescued dogs. First L.J. came to Allie's house and told her to get out of bed and follow him. Next they went to Dub's house and got him out of bed. After that they went to the "plant" where L.J.'s dad kept dogs that he was goining to breed. They got all the dogs and put them in the truck. They went to the police station and turned Mr. Cutler in and he got arrested.
